In winter, during the bare, crystal-clear months, the vines portray themselves solitary and naked, waiting for the warmth of spring with its childlike blossoms; a prelude to the bright green of summer on which the sun beats down like a mallet, dripping gold among the shoots plundered by the voluptuous harvest in sleepy autumn. . Finally, rust spreads like a pitiful mantle over the hills, waiting for another unpredictable winter of sweet death and rebirth: every year the same and every year bringing renewed promises of joy.

Raising vines is our trade and the Riva is our workplace; our peasant workshop on a par with the Renaissance workshop where Humanism was born. Raising vines on the Riva in the most convoluted hillsides is the trade we learned from our parents with rough, peasant pedagogy.
Each row of vines takes root on a bank shaped with the hoe and stubbornly maintained vine by vine, one by one in an interminable conversation with which we consolidate the stability of the slopes and the magnificence of the landscape.
Giovanna and Gaetano, our parents and architects of the Great Change, have transformed the ancestral rituality of the seasons, in which the government of the days was dictated by the work in the barn, into an orderly succession of jobs: pruning, breaking up, manure, mowing, weeding, removing, fungicide treatment, peeling, thinning, harvesting.
